The yarn for sock club always turns up before the pattern. It’s a good motivator to get knitting if I’m not done (like I wasn’t for the June socks). Yarn arrived, I knit, and shortly after the pattern for August’s socks arrived (mere hours, I say!), I finished Cowtown, so named by Socktopus for Calgary, where I happened to attend a conference last summer.
They’re a great shade of blue and while I didn’t love the pattern at first, I really like the finished product, especially the way the heel was put together. They’re a series of short-row wedges that construct the heel cup and they fit really well. Socktopus’s short-row wraps made it quick to knit up and it was easier than any other way I had done short rows.
Here’s a look at the pattern:
The color in the first image is much truer to the sock, but you can really see the detail. It looks much more complicated than it is!
August’s pattern pack gave us one pattern and one note about a mystery sock knit-along. The offered pattern is pretty but not to my taste so I am going to hold out for the knit-along, which starts on September 10. Instead, I am turning back the clock to try to finish up April’s socks.
Coming soon: curtains for the living room (done but not hung up yet) and more tales (and food) from my summer holiday.
Beautiful socks. I like the heel too!
